Coke Bottle

Ji Young Chun

I chose Coca cola as my project because coca cola has one of the biggest impressions among objects at duke. Here is my story. Last year when I was a freshman, I always pulled all nighters with my Korean friends in Randolph study room, with our huge amount of assignments from classes. So when it became around 3 ish, we became hungry, and ordered Dominos because at that time Dominos is the only restaurant that opens. Usually we ordered barbeque chicken pizza and a bottle of Coca cola. Before I came to duke, I never, never, and never drank Coca cola because I felt like my teeth melting when I drank Coca cola. Also I did not like the taste of it. It was too bitter for me. But when we ordered pizza and a soda, the consensus for the soda always went for Coca cola. In this democratic society we have to agree on consensus, and I had to drink Coca cola regardless of my preference. This was the history of my drinking Coca cola in my life. Still I don’t like Coca cola, but at least I don’t avoid it anymore. I want to put my Coca cola sculpture in Randolph study room in east campus in order to evoke the memory of my freshman year, the time when I started to drink Coca cola in my life.
