Dutch

Born on June 17th, 1993, in New York City, Dutch Waanders quickly formed a moderately concerning pickle addiction, which years of determination and will power have worked to subdue. After moving a few times, Dutch completed his high school education at Hopkins School in New Haven, CT, where he played football and lacrosse, while also dabbling in theater and pottery. While finding himself not athletic enough to play varsity at Duke, Dutch’s urge to hit something was satisfied by the club rugby team… until Dutch’s face was broken in a game against ECU. Now, Dutch spends the majority of his time doing homework for his Biomedical Engineering major, and working with Girls Engineering Change, a nonprofit that does STEM education outreach. All excess time is spent drinking, and delaying inevitable decisions about his post-graduation plans. In Summers past, Dutch has done DukeEngage in Mombassa and worked in the Medical Center as a Pratt Fellow. He is currently Ubuntu’s President, but has also served as social chair and Internal Programming coordinator in the past.
