Systems Thinking Activity

We open our workshop with a case-study activity to explore systems thinking and how it relates to sustainability. In small groups, participants receive a photograph to discuss — each group a different photograph (or perhaps two, depending on the size of the group). Then, we augment each photograph with related text. Next, the whole group brings all of the photographs together on a wall. We discuss how these parts build into one system and how the relationships between these parts contribute to or detract from sustainability in the system
