<p style="text-align: center">During the next three weeks, I will be working on parts of my PhD dissertation and proposals for future Antarctic research. I am very excited to be able to spend time here and to be able to chat with and work with all of the amazing aussies down under!</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The first annual <a href="http://sciren.web.unc.edu/" target="_blank">Scientific Research and Education Networking</a> event will be held this Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at the<a href="http://www.ncaquariums.com/pine-knoll-shores" target="_blank"> North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores</a>.</p>
<p>Teachers and parents, come on out at 5:30 to check out presentations from scientists (like me!) from the Coastal Carolina region. You are guaranteed to get ideas and materials to take home to your kids and/or to implement in your classroom.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting approximately 100 8th grade students at Broad Creek Middle School and Morehead City Middle School, located along North Carolina&#8217;s Crystal Coast.</p>

<p>I shared with the students facts about whales and Antarctica and shared with them some stories from my research and things I have learned. I also showed them the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXwsNFwLBrQ">movie</a> I created about my work and let them test their knowledge with the <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1sRBd4CgXjmxHINLJsu9ClohwFg0AsePYD73O22clqyc/viewform">Quiz</a> I have made. The student&#8217;s seemed to really enjoy my visit and I know that I had a blast chatting with them. I hope I get the chance to chat with more students in the near future.</p>
