About US

The primary goal of Project KIDS is to learn more about the strengths and needs of families with young children.  We also want to find out how family characteristics and the services that families receive predict child health and development, parent well-being, and parenting behaviors.  With this knowledge, we hope to develop better ways to match families, both in Durham County and in other communities, with resources that will benefit them.

Approximately 1,800 families that give birth to a child at Duke between January 1, 2014 and June 30, 2014 are eligible to participate in this study. The interviews focus on multiple aspects of family life, including parents’ opinions about parenting, child health and medical care, access and recipient of family services, and mothers’ well-being.  Families are compensated for their participation in the interview.
