Duke Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Welcomes Cody Malley, PA-C

Cody MalleyCody Malley, PA-C, LAT, ATC returned to Duke Orthopaedics to work with Dr. Alison Toth and has begun working in clinic as of November 11, 2013. Cody previously worked with Dr. Toth from October 2008 to September 2011. He completed in Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies in May of 2008. Prior to his work as a PA, Cody worked as an Athletic Trainer with the US Women’s National Soccer Team, Carolina Courage Professional Women’s Soccer Club, and as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Pittsburgh. Please welcome Cody back to the Duke Orthopaedics family!

Orthopaedics Welcomes Dr. Karl Schweitzer!

Duke Orthopaedics is excited to welcome Dr. Karl Schweitzer, a new faculty hire who will begin working with our Foot & Ankle Section in September of 2014.    Dr. Schweitzer was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, PA where he spent much time working on his family’s horse farm and competing in equestrian show jumping events on the weekends.  His undergraduate education was completed at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he studied chemistry and math, and rowed lightweight crew.  He subsequently attended Jefferson Medical College and recently completed his residency work at Duke earlier this summer.  Dr. Schweitzer and his wife, Samantha, will be spending the next year in Charlotte, NC as he completes a Foot & Ankle Fellowship at OrthoCarolina.  He is grateful for the careful guidance, teaching and mentoring provided by Drs. Nunley, Hardaker, Easley, Bologensi, and Stanley (to name a few!) who helped him learn how to care for patients in the clinic and operating room.  Welcome Dr. Schewitzer! 

 

 

Orthopaedics Welcomes Jennifer Dye, P.A.-C and Martha Aitken, N.P.-C

Marth Aitken Martha Aitken, NP-C officially rejoined our department as of July 15, 2013.  She is working with Dr. Garrigues as a Nurse Practitioner and will be co-located out of Page Road and Sports Medicine.  Martha completed her MSN, Adult Nurse Practitioner degree this past spring from Duke.  She has contributed many years of service to Duke Orthopaedics in various roles including work as a research analyst and nurse to our former Chairman, Dr. James Urbaniak.

Prior non-Duke experience includes using her nursing degrees and background in Orthopaedics at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, Duke Orthopaedics of Person County, and Bryn Mawr Orthopaedics.

 Outside of work, Martha enjoys spending time with family, friends, taking care of her two golden retrievers (Molly and Crockett), and is an active member of her church community.

Jennifer Dye

 Jennifer (Jenn) Dye, PA-C rejoined our department as of July 1, 2013.  She is working in Orthopaedic Trauma alongside Drs. Reilly and Zura.    Prior to her return to Duke, Jenn was working with Alliance Medical Ministry caring for the uninsured residents of Wake County.    

 Jenn is a graduate of the Duke University Physician Assistant Program and received her degree in 2008.  Her work experience before becoming a PA includes the NC Orthopaedic Clinic, Athletic Training, HealthSouth Physical Therapy, Raleigh Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Specialist, and Southern Illinois University.

 When she’s not at work, Jenn enjoys spending time with husband and son.  Her hobbies are ceramics, quilting, and playing tennis.

 Jenn’s office is located at Duke South, 5th Floor Orange Zone.  Please stop by the trauma clinic or the office to meet Jenn!
