About the Blog
Like many second semester seniors, there are certain things I feel like I “need to do” before I graduate. Unlike many second semester seniors however, the majority of the things on my list have to do with food and drink. In my three previous years here at Duke, between not having a car and having a somewhat over-the-top determination to get the absolute most out of my food plan, my experience with cuisine other than the campus eateries is sadly fairly limited. Luckily, senior year has brought me my 2001 Lincoln Continental (affectionately dubbed the stinkin’ Lincoln) and the opportunity to live off-campus (and therefore freedom from the constraints and convenience of a food-plan.) I find myself in the limbo between college and real life; I straddle the boundaries between frozen food and homemade meals, between solo cups and fine wine, and perhaps most importantly, between cheap eats and gourmet meals.
In this blog, I hope explore this middle ground by exploring my cabinets, Durham, and maybe even the triangle area more generally, depending on how ambitious the stinkin’ Lincoln is feeling. Of course, the best part about a good meal (or drink, or dessert) is that it brings people together. My friends are all eager to join me in my adventures – some for the hope of being mentioned in the blog, some because (based on precedents of things created in the past) they are capable of creating delicious masterpieces, one because she is required as a consequence of being my roommate, but all for the chance to spend as much time together as possible and raise our glasses to senior year. I hope you’re hungry!
