Supplying Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods to the Horn of Africa
The Nutrition Articulation Project:
A Supply Chain Analysis
As the global nutrition community shifts to the community therapeutic care model for the treatment of children with severe acute malnutrition, demand for ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTF) is rapidly increasing.
UNICEF is the leading global procurer of RUTF products, and commissioned a study to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of its supply chain for RUTF. Although the focus of this research was on eastern Africa, many of the methods and approaches are relevant for RUTF supply chains elsewhere in the world, and possibly for analysis of other products.

The site can be navigated by first visiting the Project Steps tab to explore the process of a supply chain analysis project, then viewing RUTF-project specific examples and helpful materials under the other tabs.
