About Froshlife

Duke’s Froshlife event is one of America’s premier college/university digital movie festivals and is a signature event in each class’ freshman experience. Now entering its eleventh year, Froshlife has garnered regional and national media attention by bringing first-year Duke students together with video cameras and laptops to produce a story all about their first year at the Durham, N.C. university – in seven minutes or less. After an intensive, short-term production period in February, students pack Duke’s Richard White Auditorium to witness the “world premiere” of the movies, which are judged by a panel of celebrities that frequently includes Duke’s president or provost. Almost a quarter of each year’s 1,600 freshmen participate in Froshlife as directors, crew, actors, or premiere-night attendees, making Froshlife one of the most inclusive and visible events that Duke students will experience at any time in their college career.
