This year Duke University will be participating in President Obama’s “Interfaith Service Challenge” – a year-long commitment to interfaith engagement and community service across college and university campuses – with a focus on food and its many different religious, ethical and cultural implications.  Members of the Duke community will be able to participate in interfaith reflections on the ethics of food and participate in a wide range of food-related interfaith service projects including

  • volunteering at local food pantries, soup kitchens and community gardens
  • participating in a campus-wide fast
  • packaging food relief boxes during a Martin Luther King, Jr Day “Million Meals” event
  • working to alleviate food insecurity in Durham during an interfaith alternative Spring Break
