Emily Sloss, Farm Manager
Emily graduated with a Public Policy degree from Duke in 2010 and was part of the student team that sparked the idea for the farm during her senior year. Taken by the idea of a campus farm and the thriving local food scene in Durham, Emily was compelled to turn this dream into a reality. Over the following year, with a dedicated team of student volunteers and faculty support, the farm transformed from a fallow piece of land into a bountiful half-acre farm and educational facility serving the Duke community. Emily now works full-time for the university managing the farm, overseeing everything from food production to student interns and educational programming. emily.sloss@duke.edu

Sarah also recently finished working with Sarah P. Duke Gardens to get one of their new garden installments SITES certified. While at the Nicholas School Sarah was a leader of Farmhand, a graduate student group on campus, which hosts workdays at local farms in the area in an effort to lend small farmers a helping “farmhand.” Sarah graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Environmental Science. She is from Stockbridge, Georgia. sarah.parsons@duke.edu
