Elena Botella is an Angier B. Duke Scholar at Duke University, majoring in Economics and Math. She is the Vice- President of Education and Advocacy for the Duke-Durham Hunger Alliance and is Co-President of Duke Democrats. She works with the Duke Microfinance Leadership Initiative to explore the intersection of agriculture and microfinance.
Elena Botella was a Co-Founder and is the Executive Chair of The Nexus, a residential living group at Duke dedicated to philosophical discourse.
Elena is interested in agricultural policy and development, economics, gender, biologically inspired design and social justice. In May-July of 2011, she’ll be at Duke doing research in the Duke Economics Department on the economic modeling of romantic preferences.
