Last updated: Jan 11, 2011, 3:30pm
To allow students an opportunity to meet professionals and learn more about careers related to the Pandemics, the Winter Forum will conclude with a special event, On the Front-lines: A Healthy Dose of Career Networking, on Tuesday at 5:00pm. Guest speakers in the event will engage with student groups for approximately 20 minutes in a session moderated by faculty leaders. These brief sessions will allow an informal venue for students to learn more about the guests’ field of work and specifics relating to their current position, career path and any professional development strategies they might be able to offer for students interested in public health and the sciences. Guests include:
Edie Alfano-Sobsey, PhD, Team Leader of the Public Health Regional Surveillance Team 4, North Carolina Office of Public Health
Michael Dombeck, MPP, MBA, Portfolio Manager, GlaxoSmithKline
Jeffrey Engel, MD, North Carolina State Health Director
Nicole Fouche, PhD, MS, Executive Director of the Triangle Global Health Consortium
Pia MacDonald, PhD, MPH, CPH, Director of the NC Center of Public Health Preparedness; Research Associate Professor of Epidemiology, UNC-Chapel Hill
Arti Rai, JD, Elvin R Latty Professor of Law, Duke Law School
During the session, guest speakers will open with a brief overview of their current position and career path, followed by a moderated question and answer session with students. This event will be held in the HCA Auditorium.
