My name is Cynthia Bai, and I’m from Durham, NC (be jealous of my 15 minute commute during Move-In Day). I am double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science so that I can grow up and make the Iron Man suit. In fact, I just finished a summer internship with Boeing in Seattle, WA so that’s one step closer to that suit. I was involved with SWE for three years as Secretary. Outside of SWE, I am a tour guide for Pratt and the driver for the Duke Eco-Marathon race car team.

Hi, I’m Samantha Kelly, and I graduated from Duke in 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in English. I was actively involved in SWE since my freshman year and it played a significant role in my college experience. I am currently working as a project engineer with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in the Charleston, SC, area.

Hello! My name is Rachel Fleming and I am from Alexandria, VA. I graduated in 2012 with a major in Civil Engineering and a certificate in Architectural Engineering. SWE was been a major part of my Duke undergraduate life throughout my time here. I enjoyed connecting with other female engineers as well as alumni and local Professional SWE members. I was a Freshman Delegate, served as the Programming Chair my sophomore year, was the Recruitment and Public Relations Chair my junior year, and was President my senior year.
As an undergrad and in addition to SWE, I served as the Vice President for Duke’s Chapter of Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society) and Community Service Chair for Duke’s Chapter of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society). I was a member of the Duke Cheerleading Squad and participated in Greek life on campus as well as Selective Living.
I am currently a Masters student in the Master of Engineering program here at Duke and I’m studying Civil Engineering. I’m also the Essay Contest Chair for the Eastern NC Professional SWE Section and I’m the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach here at Duke!
Have a great year and go Duke!

Hi, I’m Robyn Schwartzman, and I’m from Gaithersburg, MD. I graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering and minor in Spanish. Except for the one semester I spent abroad in Madrid, Spain, I was involved with SWE during my entire Duke career and held various positions on the exec board. I’m addicted to water (I played on the club water polo team and lifeguard), volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and share my love of Duke every chance that I get. (And, no, I didn’t eat both of those ice cream cones, but the one I did eat was really good!)

Hello! I am Kimberly Leonard, and I am from Dix Hills New York. I graduated from Duke in 2012 with my degree in Mechanical Engineering and currently live in Silver Spring Maryland. I became really active in SWE my junior year and served my senior year as Career and Academic Development Chair. In fall 2011 I went to Chicago with Duke SWE and attended the SWE national convention. It was there that I met many representatives from a technology consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton. As a result, I am working at Booz Allen in Maryland, directly with many of those same people from the convention! I am now involved with the professional side of SWE here at Booz Allen and looking forward to attending more conferences in the future. At Duke I was also involved in Engineering Student Government (ESG) and Greek life on campus. I studied abroad in Sydney Australia for a semester and developed a taste for adventure and a healthy addiction to the food network.
