To all engineering freshmen: Don’t forget about our awesome opportunity for you to get involved in a club at an executive level!
Each year, SWE has 2-3 freshmen delegates who act as a liaison between SWE Exec and the freshmen class. In doing so, they gain the valuable experience of serving as a part of SWE Exec board. Serving as a freshman delegate is a great way to get involved in SWE at a high level and isn’t a huge, time-consuming commitment. The application will be sent out to the freshmen, and will be made available online in the coming days.
This weekend is Homecoming! As such, SWE is having an informal breakfast with alumni on Saturday, 9/24 beginning at 10:30a at Alpine Bagels. Be sure to stop by and say hi!
We are currently looking for a secretary to join our awesome Exec board. We encourage all interested sophomores, juniors, and seniors to apply. Elections will be held at the general body meeting on Sunday, September 11. If you would like to run, please submit a brief bio and why you would want to run to Rachel and Robyn by Friday, September 9.
One of the peer resources our section of SWE offers is our SWE Buddies program. As a part of this program, each incoming female freshman in Pratt is assigned to an upperclassman to help prepare for and adjust to her new life at Duke. Each freshman should receive a welcome email from her SWE Buddy during the summer months. It is our job to make sure that the freshmen feel comfortable as they begin their college career. We’re already planning a few events so the incoming female engineers can meet SWE, so be on the lookout for forthcoming information!
