Quad by Social-Psychology
Hello SWE! Take a break from all the activity this weekend and soak up some sun at SWE’s Homecoming Picnic and meet some past SWE alumni. The picnic will be tomorrow from 10am to 12pm and will be located on the luscious greens between Old Chem and Social-Psychology. We’ll bring some light breakfast-y foods (fruit salad, anyone?) and some things to lay on, but bring your own blanket if you can! See you there.
We hope everyone has had an amazing summer and is geared up and ready for the start of another year! SWE has a lot of amazing things in the works for the upcoming year, and we cannot wait for everyone to get involved.
First up is the activities fair THIS Friday! We are still in need of some volunteers to help us table at the Activities Fair this Friday. Please sign up for 30 minute shifts using the Google Doc sent out in this week’s digest. Volunteers will receive a free “I <3 SWE” shirt to wear during their shift! If you sign up and do not already own a shirt, please email Cheryl at cjl35@duke.edu with your shirt size. If you did not receive an email with the weekly digest, but would like to, please email Lucy at lcd15@duke.edu.
Following the activities fair on Friday, SWE will be kicking off the year with our annual dinner to welcome freshmen. All are welcome to come join SWE and the class of 2016! This is a great chance to meet up with all of your favorite SWEeties and to meet all of our newest additions. Meet at the Blackwell Arch directly after the Activities Fair (6:15PM), and everyone will walk over to grab dinner together on Ninth Street. Depending on the size of the group, we’ll split off into two groups for dinner: Elmo’s and Bali Hai.
And last but certainly not least, our first GBM will take place on Monday, September 3 from 6-7PM in Soc Psych 129. Please join us to welcome our new members and meet the newest Executive Board and stay for our annual SWEet Tooth Social where you can stay and meet your SWE Buddy after a long summer! There will be Free Food AND Free T-Shirts! <3
Where is Soc Psych? Soc Psych building is on the main quad. Take a right when facing the chapel and then stay on the right side of the quad. Soc Psych is the last building on the right before the quad dead-ends at the Duke Hospital/Medical School.

SWE will have a casual event as part of reunion weekend on Friday April 20th from 3 to 5 pm on the second floor of the CIEMAS Atrium. This will be a casual event where you can drop by anytime and can meet current SWE member. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Please feel free to invite your favorite faculty member, or send your suggestions to Erinn at emg27@duke.edu.

Come join SWE and SWE alumni on East Campus in the parlors for lunch! It’s a great, informal way to catch up with old friends, meet past section members, and enjoy food.
Niva will be in Von der Hayden every week starting at 7:30p. Feel free to stop by, grab some coffee, and chat with her and other SWE members as you take a study break from Perkins/Bostock.
