Welcome to Down Home: The Cantata Website

We are pleased to welcome you to the Down Home: Cantata website! The cantata is an original musical score by Alejandro Rutty, featuring historic audio recordings from the Jewish Heritage Foundation of North Carolina’s archives. Commissioned by Eric Meyers, with the sponsorship of the Bernice and Morton Lerner Endowment in Judaic Studies at Duke University, the cantata brings to life Jewish voices of the South.

  1. Shalom yall! I’m moving to Carrboro in July! Would love to join your mailing list or better yet, perform with you! Are you looking for a fine folky mezzo with classical / cantorial training? (HUC-JIR grad, 1997 but don’t let that scare you, lol!)

I will be working part-time at Kehillah of Chapel Hill. I’m doing High HOly Days in Bristol, TN and meanwhile looking for other fine musical mischief. I play piano, guitar and flute. Let’s chat!
