Hi everyone and welcome to the garden! If you are new to the garden, let me tell you a little about what it’s about.
The Duke Community Garden was established last year by people who wanted who wanted to branch out from the Duke Campus Farm and set up their own, individual plots. At the campus farm, you till, fertilize, and weed for crops that will ultimately be on a dish served on campus, but at the community garden, you will reap what you sow…your own harvest!
As a miniature version of the Duke Campus Farm, the community garden is located right behind the Smarthome, across the street from the back of the Freeman’s Center for Jewish Life. It’s small and tight-knit, with individual plots and a work system that brings together a big part of what the garden is all about – community.
