The Academic Council Committee on Undergraduate Education has designed a new educational program, DukeImmerse that will be piloted in the spring of 2011.  The overall goal of DukeImmerse is to raise the level of intellectual engagement on campus for undergraduates and for the Duke faculty.   To meet that goal, DukeImmerse is a semester-long and fundamentally different learning environment for a select group of students and faculty members.  The central idea is to immerse the students and faculty in a full-time project focused on an intellectually stimulating topic that will range over a full semester. Creative approaches to thought and solutions will be encouraged, as will working across disciplinary lines.
