Welcome to our Masters Project research page!
We are working with Better Buildings NY, a volunteer non-profit organization, to formulate a guide for local policymakers of Community Board 7 and NYC to improve the energy efficiency of buildings on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
The UWS has a unique building stock of many high-rise, pre-war built apartment buildings that use 100 year old technology. This provides a number of opportunities to make these buildings both more energy efficient and cleaner while reducing operational costs for building managers. The goal is to educate local policymakers about these potential opportunities through establishing a guide for them.
The following pages provide more information about our research findings including the opportunities that we appraised for improving these buildings. We hope that with this guide we can arm co-op boards and policymakers with good information to improve the UWS neighborhood.
