Vincent, Clarence “Little Dad”

Standing at four feet tall, “Little Dad” started his banjo career in his teens playing with Buddy Petit and Chris Kelly. In the early 1920s, he played with Amos White’s New Orleans Creole Jazz Band at the West End and later joined Herb Morand to play in Yucutan, Mexico. He worked with Louise Dumaine and Octave Crosby during the depression. Clarence was born in Baton Rouge in 1899 and died in New Orleans in 1960.  (See Al Rose and Edmond Souchon, New Orleans Jazz: A Family Album, p. 125)
