To all,
Here is a nice link to a video demonstration on how to connect to the artslabs server with a PC. This was made by Allen Creech over in Documentary Studies.
Some users might find it necessary to use VPN in order to connect properly, in order to use VPN, go to
http://portal.duke.edu/ and follow the prompts.
Let us know how this works for you; the demo is done using Windows 7, but the concept is basically the same for XP and Vista.
Hope this is helpful!

Instructions for Digital Files and Folders – Hierarchy, Naming, etc
For your own desktop configuration and general files in the lab you can use any order or naming structure you want. These instructions are only for files you will share with faculty and students in the class (all graded and submitted work, for example)
Make sure you understand private vs public folders. In our lab, COMMONS is the public folder. Open it, and find within it the folder with our class name (Lasch-Seaman-54-etc). Do not put your work in the drop folder. Instead, create a folder with your full last name and first initial of your first name. You will put all your assignments inside that folder with your name.
Name all your shared and submitted files as follows:
LastNameFullFirstNameIntitial_AssignmentTitle_part(p1 or p2, etc)_extension(jpg,pdf,etc)
Example:
In her folder, Paula Abdul could have two files (part 1 and 2 of same assignment):
AbdulP_UnlikelyChart_p1.jpg
AbdulP_UnlikelyChart_p2.jpg
