Eduardo Kac is a contemporary artist who has pioneered the field of bio art. He creates a number of transgenic works and telerobotic pieces. Transforming digital and biological processes to explore communication, Kac utilizes established techniques in mechanics and science to create hybrid artworks. Thus, his works act as a machine to communicate scientifically complex methods to in a political manner through art to the public.

One of Kac’s most famous pieces is “GFP Bunny”. Alba (pictured above) is a green fluorescent protein expressing rabbit. With three total phases to the work, he explores Alba’s birth, the ongoing debate within the media, and her eventual integration into a residential home.
